National Symbols

This week, we learned about some of our national symbols (what they symbolize and where they are located).  We talked about the American flag, the Statue of Liberty, and the bald eagle to name a few.  We looked closely at the Statue of Liberty and decided to make our own!

First, students used pencil to draw their own Statue of Liberty on white paper.  Next, they carefully traced over their pencil markings with black marker.  Next, they used water color paint to add color to their artwork.  The students did an amazing job recreating one of our national symbols!

In library, we were able to preview lots of new books!  Mrs. Czaicki set up all of the books on the tables and chairs.  We played musical chairs!  While the music played, we all walked around the chairs and tables, and as soon as it stopped, we had to sit down in a chair and preview the book next to us.  It was so much fun!  We couldn't wait to check out our new books!

We love our new library books!
