Classroom Updates

There have been quite a few changes to our room over winter break.  Here are pictures of the changes I have made to our classroom.  Enjoy!

Our horseshoe table has moved closer to the classroom entrance.  The green shelf will now be used to keep items I need when working with small groups, and I will use the white board as I work with reading groups. There are also some new items added to the wall space to enhance our classroom environment.

On the opposite side of the shelf, I will display the new character word of the month.  For January, our character word is "integrity" (doing the right thing even when no one is looking).  Each month, we will discuss our new character word and I will ask students to draw pictures representing the word.  Some of their work will be displayed next to the character word.  If I notice any student demonstrating the character word of the month, I will write down what they did on a piece of paper and place it next to the character word.

Our tables have been rearranged a little to fit the new layout of the room.  

Some of the book shelves in the class library have moved to best utilize our space.

There are lots of new things added to our calendar board!  

We have new "Super Shapes" above our calendar board.

Here is where our art center is now located.

This shelf was once used for students to keep their lunch boxes.  Students will now keep their lunch boxes in their cubbies and we will use this shelf to keep art supplies.

Create with Harold (from the book, "Harold and the Purple Crayon")!  This is our new writing center.  

Here is a shelf where we will keep our supplies for the writing center.

Our word wall has been moved and is now located above the cubbies.  New space creatures decorate our word wall because reading is out of this world!  :)

We have a new birthday graph!  

The dramatic play area has been rearranged a little.

I hope you enjoy the changes that were made to our room!  I can't wait for the students to see everything when they come back to school tomorrow!

Winter Party

On December 20, we had our class winter party!  The students did lots of fun activities.  Everyone brought in a stuffed animal and they turned them into reindeer!  They used pipe cleaners and jingle bells to make collars for their reindeer; some students even used extra pipe cleaners to make antlers!

The snacks for the party were so yummy!  Everyone decorated cookies and made snowmen out of marshmallows and other delicious candies.  Enjoy our pictures from the winter party!

The students' reindeer were lined up on the carpet and ready to fly!  Everyone came to the carpet to drive the sleigh and sing holiday songs.  Thank you to everyone for your donations of items, helping in the room, and organizing the party.  The kids had a great time!
